aside from the visual similarities to a certain jolly old elf, the connection between these two and the spirit of giving came back to me today (along with the spirits of christmas present and future). in faith circles, it's believed that death reunites. and that belief is usually reserved for the dead. it's interesting to note, however, the power death has to reunite the living.
